I wanted to thank you and your staff for a wonderful trip. Capt. Malcom is on the fish brother! I would fish with him again any time! What a professional! As a matter of fact I would like to send him a little gift, could I mail it to your office? Mr. Moose was great too. Count on us for any future trips to Nassau and a definite word of mouth advertiser. Thanks again Capt. Mike.

Hello Captain Mike Russell,
Rich and I just returned from dinner and couldn’t help but write you right away about the great day we had with Chubasco Charters. From start to finish, we could not have asked for a better experience. Our first communications with you were extremely responsive, friendly, informative, and professional. Captain Adam and the Mate, Kirk, were great. They arrived exactly as you promised and took us off to enjoy the beautiful day. Adam was so enthusiastic and his love for fishing was infectious. Kirk, although a man of few words, was encouraging and kind.
Thanks so much for giving us this great memory. We will not forget our time in the Bahamas, especially fishing with Chubasco, and we hope we can experience it again someday soon and share the experience with others.
Best to you, Adam, Kirk and everyone at Chubasco Charters!
Rich and Patti

Dear Capt Mike,
We had the most fantastic time fishing with Adam (a fine son, you should be proud) and Kirk. They did a great job. Seemed Like we always had a fish on. At one time we had 5 Black Fin Tuna on at one time. Talk about fun. All the passengers were boys from the group we traveled with except the one exception was our dear friend Dawn who is in the end stages of breast cancer and we fear that we will be saying good bye soon. She agreed to come and said while she was riding in the deep sea portion of our adventure that she had never felt so alive. I can't count how many fish we caught. Mostly Ahi Black Fin Tuna and the a variety of fish including a very large Mahi Mahi, uncountable Barracuda, and many Yellow Tail Snapper. Your son is a great captain, patient, kind, and extremely knowledgeable. He found the Tuna by finding a large group of birds on a feeding frenzy. We took 28 + pictures and will send you some of the best. Many thanks! We'll be back for sure!

Hello Chubasco Charters,
I just wanted to send out a giant THANK YOU to Captain Malcolm and his mate Moose. My 25th. Wedding Anniversary gift was a fishing trip with Malcolm. I fished with my son and his best friend. They had never been
trolling before. When I found out the seas were 8'-10' I was skeptical about catching fish. Malcolm assured me first thing that we would catch more fish than we cared to reel in. Although the seas were really rough, we had the time of our life! I lost track of how many Wahoo & Mahi-Mahi we caught, but it was at least 20 apiece. On the way in although I had said I wasn't reeling in another fish guess what happened..one reel went down.. Capt. Malcolm stopped the boat and within seconds 2 more reels go down. Well I had to reel in another fish!!! And it was the biggest Wahoo of all, about 60 lbs!!! . I looked up at Capt. Malcolm and he was like a little kid dancing around... he was having as much fun as we were. It is highly unusual in my experience for a captain to enjoy seeing people catch fish as much as Capt. Malcolm does. A big THANK YOU to Malcolm and his mate Moose for making this a day I will never forget.
Thank you!!
Jeff Lee
P.S. When I return to Atlantis I will no doubt book another trip with Malcolm. I have told everyone I know about him and Chubasco Charters!

Just wanted to let you know that this was undoubtedly the best fishing experience of my life, and I couldn't have been more pleased with the way our charter went! Captain Adam Russell and First Mate Kirk Johnson displayed the utmost in professionalism, courtesy, patience and seamanship for us, and it was truly appreciated! We got into a couple of schools of very nice Blackfin Tuna, and I really can't put into words the thrill of seeing the line peel off of 4 reels at once when the fish hit!! This was truly the experience of a lifetime for me, and my expectations were clearly surpassed!! It was an absolute pleasure to have the opportunity to fish with Capt. Adam and First Mate Kirk, and I'm already planning trips with Chubasco Charters for late fall '09 and spring '10. I would HIGHLY recommend Chubasco to anyone considering fishing Nassau!!..Thanks again for everything, we appreciate everything you did for us so much!!
Sincerely,

Dear Captain Mike and Charleston,
Thank you for a great morning of reef fishing on June 8th. Luis and I really enjoyed catching barracuda, spanish mackerel and yellow tail snapper. It was the first time reef fishing for me.
The arrangements you made with Montague Gardens to cook our catch were much appreciated. The restaurant did a terrific job preparing the fish and also provided us with a ride back to Atlantis.
We are looking forward to fishing with you the next time we are in the Bahamas.

Hey Guys,
My wife and I went on the charter October 2nd, 2008 with Capt. Mike Russell's son Capt. Adam. It was an incredible experience and I can honestly say that if we ever get a chance to come back, we will not think twice about taking another charter with your company. In fact, the only thing we would change is to go for a full day instead of a half day! Adam was even willing to drive us over to a restaurant (in his own car!) with the freshly caught fish, to have it cooked for our lunch. Truly one of a kind!
I just wanted to show you guys a website that I am involved in, called www.FishAddix.com. Its a fishing "social network" site that allows anglers to post pictures and connect with other anglers. We would love if you guys joined (its free!) and posted any kind of information about Chubasco. You are welcome to advertise on the site, post pictures, fishing reports, blogs, etc. In fact, if you guys post any blogs or reports I can tag them as "featured content" to show up on our front page! Just let me know. We have a smaller user base right now, but we are growing all the time. I hope you guys take advantage of our website to reach more potential customers,
Jesse

This was our first sport fishing trip and it was all that we could have hoped for and then some. Very pleased with the 14 Mahi-mahi and Wahoo we caught. Crew was great and very professional. Looking forward to booking a charter with you in the future.

Dear Capt. Mike Russell
I just wanted to show my appreciation for having me aboard your fishing charter (Chubasco III) on Friday of August 1, 2008. The fishing was spectacular, never a dull moment, and it was a great experience for a first time in the Bahamas. I enjoyed visiting with Charlton (your mate) as well and he was such a great help. I learned a lot from him. Thanks for giving a fine adventure and hope all is well with you and your family.

Hi,
This is Joshua, The 12 year old who caught the 42 lb Mahi-Mahi (June 21, 2008). After I caught that huge Mahi-Mahi ( click here for photo) I knew I would now be called a REAL fisherman and not a fisherman “wannabe”. That is the first fish I caught over 10 lbs. It is amazing to think that I had the opportunity to catch that monster of a fish. I thought it was cool to have to run to the chair like the fisherman on T.V. I am still shocked that I have the memory of the fight I had with that Monster Fish. Now I have something for everybody to remember about me.
So to wrap it up, Thank you for the opportunity for me to catch that HUGE Mahi-Mahi.
Joshua

Hello Capt. Mike,
Just wanted to follow-up on our charter from last week (June 4, 2008). We had a great time, this being our second trip with your sons Adam and Matt over the past three years. They really worked for us and were very attentive, especially to my three children (ages 4, 8 & 10) who had a great time with all of the action. Overall, we landed five dorado, two skipjack and a yellowfin tuna; a good day by any measure, especially with the dorado running in the 30-50 pound range. And the dinner at Montagu Gardens that evening topped off an excellent day.
We will definately give you a call in advance of our next trip down to Atlantis. Thanks again for a memorable day of fishing.
Best regards, Mark

I just wanted to write to say thank you for such a wonderful day of fishing with Captain Mike and Charlton on Chubasco III. Our catch of 10 mahi and 7 wahoo in a 4 hour charter has to be one of the best afternoons of fishing I have ever had. It certainly was for the the rest of the group as they had never been deep sea fishing! I have included photos of the catch and of me holding one ( click here for photo) of the large mahi that we caught. I will definitely be sure to recommend your operation to anyone headed to Nassau/Paradise Island.

Mike,
I wanted to drop you a note to let you know how pleased I was with the trip my son, Bobby, and I took on Chubasco VI on April 5. Both Adam and Malcom did a great job and we ended up with 7 nice dolphin, plus we had a lot of other action. We circled plenty of tuna schools but they spooked easily that day. Probably just as well since as Adam pointed out every school we came across contained a large shark.
Thanks again and next time we come back for another family vacation I'll be sure to hook up with you again.

Hi Capt. Mike,
Just wanted to let you know that we again had a great time this year on both trips fishing with Captains Adam and Malcolm. Plenty of fish, lots of activity, good weather and a great pair of guys to be out with. Likewise, your friends at Montagu Gardens did a superb job for us with a mutton snapper and yellowtail feast.
Of course, the highlight had to be seeing Capt. Adam pulling on a mask and plunging over the side to see what it was that we couldn't budge off the bottom. Turned out to be a mutton snapper that had wrapped the leader around a piece of coral, which he proceeded to gaff and bring back up. (click here to see photo) Talk about going overboard for a customer!
We'll be seeing you again next March. Thanks again.

Capt. Mike,
For sport fishing in Nassau, I would highly recommend your Chubasco Charters. I fished on the 38-foot Hatteras Chubasco VI on 2/28/07 with your son Capt. Adam and really enjoyed the experience. Adam is a skilled skipper and quite personable.
I have fished on several charters, most notably in Kailua, Kona Hawaii, which has one of the top fleets in the world. I am qualified to say that your Chubasco Charters is a 1st class operation. You and your team are very responsive, professional and skilled. You offer quality skippering and crewing, a superior boat, and excellent value for money spent.

I wanted to thank you for setting Jackie and I up on the Chubasco VI this last Saturday.
I've done all kinds of fishing all over the place with many guides and outfitters. Your boats, equipment, and most importantly, your service were the finest I have had the privilege to experience.
Captain Adam and Charlton make a great team! As I'm sure you already know they got us on the fish. I was pleased to start the day with a nice barracuda and thrilled to end it with a triple header hat trick of sailfish -three at the same time and all made it to the boat - what a great anniversary present! Jackie loved it.
Thanks for the great memories,

It was my pleasure to have a fishing charter with Chubasco V on last Friday. Both my friend and I were rookies in saltwater. My friend has had several heart attacks and one major stroke. Because of the stroke his left arm does not work. I have torn the biceps muscle on both arms, so I have very little strength any more. Your staff did an EXCELLENT job not only finding us fish, but helping a one-armed man, and a man with two half-arms to land some. I will tell everyone that I know about you guys.
Thanks a lot!

Hi Capt. Mike - I've been meaning to send a note to you and Harriett to let you know how much fun we had out with your boys. Matt and Adam were great - totally professional and on top of every moment. I don't think Adam stopped rigging jigs until we were close to docking.
My father died when I was 16 and I got my love of fishing from him. So when we went out on the Chubasco VI on November 24th., me, my husband and son, and my brother and his two boys, I felt that my Dad was with us. I think you know we each caught a wahoo. That's for 6 for 6 - a pretty good feat. Mine was the last of the day a 45 pounder (click for photo). It really was like my father was there somewhere and I'm sure he was smiling.
Thanks for a great memory - and I hope we'll be back.

Capt. Mike,
Mike, I just wanted you to know that our fishing trip was the second best thing we did while we were in the Bahamas. Since I was the father of the bride, I have to say the wedding was number 1. Our group will be talking about our fishing experience for years. I appreciate every thing your Company did for us to make it so much fun. One of the reason's why I selected your company was it was all inclusive. You provided the boat, the tackle, found the fish, furnished the food & drinks, cleaned the fish, and set up the restaurant. That is a great package for a group like ours. The restaurant you set up (Montague Gardens) had a great presentation of the fish. Also everything tasted very good. Your service and the restaurant's service was just out standing.
I just wanted to let you know it was a job well done and we will have great memories for a long time. Please use my name and e-mail as a reference at any time.
Thank You

Hi Capt. Mike,
I just wanted to pass along my thanks for the two great trips last week. My wife and I enjoyed ourselves last Monday on a beautiful morning with Capt. Greg and mate Hilroy aboard the Chubasco IV, then feasted on the wahoo at Montagu Gardens that same evening. But the light tackle trip on Thursday with Capt. Adam and Charlton aboard Chubasco V was one of the most enjoyable days on the water I've ever spent! Once we got into the fish, it was non-stop action on yellowtail, several types of jacks, barracuda, spanish and king macks, mutton snappers, and finally that pretty african pompano. I especially appreciated their willingness to let me do some of the work... it's been a long winter and it felt good to get back at it. I'm attaching a couple of the pictures ( click for photo) Adam took on the way back in.
We'll be back next year, and look forward to doing it again.

Hi Everyone,
First I wanted to thank Capt. Adam and Matt (crew) for a great charter on March 11. The kids had a fantastic time with everyone catching their fill of Yellowtail Snapper. Andrew still talks about his Spanish Mackerel. Alex's 13+ Pound Mutton Snapper is the buzz in our fishing circle.
When we return to Nassau, we will certainly use Chubasco Charters again. Wishing you all continued tight lines.
Sincerely,
Alex Nanai

Capt. Mike, We had a great time fishing on your charter on Friday morning. The captain worked very hard to find some fish because there wasn't much happening for the first hour and a half. And then... BAM! We landed 6 Dolphin, 3 sharks, and 1 Wahoo. And of course we pounded the case of Coors light. I'll send you some of the pics as soon as I can, but I wanted to say thanks again. I hope we'll be back again next year!

Thanks Again for a memorable time,

Capt. Mike,
We had a great time fishing on the Chubasco IV. I don't remember the captain's name but Hilroy was the deckhand and they both were very friendly and helpful, and Hilroy worked his butt off to try to get us some fish. We caught one 53" wahoo that made the whole trip worthwhile. Our group tries to go on vacation together somewhere different each year, so we probably won't be returning to Paradise Island any time soon. However, I will highly recommend you to anyone who is coming your way. I have attached two pictures ( see photos) for you: One of the group, and one very good picture of Hilroy with the wahoo.
Thanks, Kevin

I would like to take this opportunity to say Thank You for one of the most memorable experiences of my life. We recently visited the Bahamas and stayed at Atlantis Resort. I have grown up in The Great Lakes Region (Michigan) all of my life and I love to fish. I have never been on a charter boat let alone, deep sea fishing. Prior to our arrival, I researched the internet and came across your web site. I was impressed with what I saw and read. We booked a trip on October 28, 2005 under the name of my friend, Frank Phillips. We were lucky enough to get Malcolm as our captain and Keith as our first mate. Well let me tell you that it was the best money I spent in the Bahamas. We booked a morning half day trip and during that trip we caught EIGHT fish. Five Barracuda, two Dolphin and a Wahoo. I was lucky enough to catch five of those (3 Barracuda, 1 Dolphin and the only Wahoo). Those guys really knew what they were doing. We actually hooked two fish at once on two different occasions. It was such a rush and I would highly recommend your services to anyone looking for an experience of a lifetime.
Please pass along my thanks to our crew, the best crew in the Bahamas and the best charter fishing business as well. I am sorry that it has taken me so long to send you this, it's just that I have been very busy since then.
Thanks again to you and your staff. I hope to see you again someday soon.

Capt. Mike,
We had a great time on the fishing trip. We have been coming to Paradise Island for over 10 years and tried just about everyone who offers charters. You by far out performed the others. Four of the people on the trip have never been deep sea fishing. They are all hooked! My seven year old son who caught the biggest fish of the day (50 inch Wahoo) is ready for another trip. The Mate Matt was great. He not only kept the lines in the water he actually talked to the kids. We come to Paradise Island every year and will only fish with Chubasco.
Thanks again,

Mike,
Just a thanks to you and Richard for another nice trip on June 8th. I know the fishing has been tough lately, but we had a good trip and the fish tasted great at Montague Gardens.
I think it is great that Adam may choose to follow you as a captain. He will continue a long tradition and you should be proud. I often think of you as lucky, being on the ocean and doing what you love, but I realize it is hard work. Sort of like being a scholarship athlete...if you don't produce nobody wants you.....and a lot of fishing is luck, regardless of how bad you want it for your clients. I watch how hard you work looking for fish, and can hear the excitement and enthusiasm in your voice each time one shows up in the pattern....Something you maintain after a number of years..its nice to see.
Thanks again.

Hello to all at Chubasco Charters, would like to thank you all for the great fishing experience aboard the Chubasco with Capt. Malcolm and mate Matt Russell on 5/22 & 5/23. Your crew did an outstanding job of finding plenty of Mahi-Mahi, Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna and Bonito to catch and to enjoy some for dinner at Montagu Gardens. The whole experience was so unbelievably exciting only to be topped off by getting a nice Mahi-Mahi on a spinning rod. We can't wait to come back to go again and will highly recommend anyone going to Nassau to fish to definitely use your top notch and professional charter service.

We were down in the Bahamas for my son's wedding, and wanted to plan a special day for a few of our guests. We chartered two boats, with my son's friends on one boat, and my husbands friends on the other. Capt Mike cleaned our fish, and delivered it to Montagu Restaurant, where our guests dined on fresh Mahi Mahi, grilled, blackened and fried. They are all still talking about the fishing trip, and their luncheon. Thank you Capt Mike, and your crew for making this such a memorable experience. May 2004,
Our family uses Chubasco and Captain Mike Russell regularly. Having moved to the Bahamas from cold Chicago 4 years ago, we love getting out for snorkeling and for serious fishing. Whether it is a ½ day cruise with another family which includes snorkeling, light tackle fishing and boating around the islands or a serious fishing trip with my corporate guests or my brothers… these guys are the best.
For the serious sports fishermen, I have seen Mike and Richard follow the feeding sea birds, the bait fish schools and weed lines where other boats would have given up. The next thing heard on the back of the boat is, ”FISH - ON”! Chubasco is batting 100% as far as landing fish.
The true sign of a good captain and serious fishing boat is the quality of the reels and the tackle. Top notch!

My wife and I do a lot of charter and offshore fishing when we go on vacation, so when we decided to go to Atlantis for a vacation in May 2004, I did my internet research on charter captains available and selected Chubasco Charters. We are so glad we did. Captain Mike is a 4th generation Bahamian captain, so he knows the waters and fishing patterns like no one else.
We were met promptly at the dock at our appointed time and found Chubasco III, a 48 foot Hatteras to be well equipped with excellent electronics and top of the line tackle and rigging, all the way down to top quality skirts.
One of the best things about fishing this area with Chubasco Charters is that you can be fishing 15 minutes after leaving the dock. We were on Mahi-Mahi within one half hour of trolling and had boated several within an hour. We had an excellent day of Mahi-Mahi, Black fin tuna, Wahoo, Barracuda, Bonita, and a brief dance with a beautiful marlin.
My wife and I were so impressed with the fishing and the area that we bought a time share in Nassau, so we can fish yearly there. In fact, we will be going back again in two weeks, where we have already booked two more days with Captain Mike on Chubasco III.
It is no wonder that Captain Mike spends over 300 days annually on the water, and we are happy that 1% of his fishing year will be spent with us in 2004.

Hi Captain Mike.
A quick note to express our appreciation for a fabulous trip. Captain Malcolm and Mate Keith went above and beyond the call of duty all day long and even after the trip to ensure that we enjoyed ourselves - and we did.
It wasn't just the fishing (or, more correctly, the "catching" as Malcolm put it) but the attention to our mood's and desire's during the trip that really stood out - not to mention the fact that the crew helped clean a snapper that we took to the restaurant for dinner and arranged our transportation back to the hotel with Malcolm's father due to the shortage of taxis.
Captain Malcolm takes pride in his work and it really shows. Just refer to the picture of the 200lb. Lemon Shark that we brought back.
Once again please extend my thanks to Captain Malcolm and Keith for a truly memorable day.

Dear Captain Mike,
I wanted to thank you for a fun charter just before the New Year. It was really relaxing to venture just a few miles offshore and get into fish and what an excellent way to bring in the New Year.
We got a few photos back of the two wahoo including the one that the shark got. That one would have been even bigger than the other. We told Debbie she's going to have to learn to reel faster!
We went into Nassau later that day and saw some other charter boats that were in really scary condition and heard people complaining that they didn't catch anything. We clearly made the right choice.
I just wanted to drop you a quick note to thank you for a nice trip. Kindest regards to you and Malcolm.

Captain Mike,
We just arrived home and cannot stop talking about the great time we had on our fishing charter. We caught a few Bonita, a very nice Yellowfin Tuna, our friend Michelle caught her very first Sailfish and if that was not enough Captain John-Michael put us on a 75 pound 5' 7" Bull Dolphin on the way back in. (see photo left) What a phenomenal day of fishing!
Your staff made arranging the charter very easy, your crew spoiled us by picking us up right at the cruise ship terminal and the fishing was out of this world! This was certainly a trip of a lifetime. We really look forward to hooking up with you again next year!

While vacationing in Nassau, I decided to spend an afternoon fishing. After a little research I chose Chubasco Charters. I found the boat clean and top shelf fishing gear on board. The Captain (John-Michael) and his mate were friendly and knowledgeable of the waters we were fishing. I preferred to fish the reefs with lighter gear instead of deep-sea fishing. I landed five Barracuda, as well as other species and lost five or six others. At one point I was hoping not to hook a fish for a few minutes as my arms were aching from reeling in fish. I had a wonderful afternoon and I'm planning on going back next year.

Subject: Thanks for great trip
Hey Capt. Mike,
One of my fishing buddies told me about how he and his wife had gone to Nassau a few years ago and had been basically taken for a "long boat ride" instead of fishing by a local charter service. The way in which you and your son Adam accommodated us on our half-day trip dispelled any fears I may of had of being taken as my friend was! The boat and equipment was in topnotch condition and I was able to fulfill my dream of catching and releasing a beautiful Sailfish! (see photo left) Too bad we missed two other Sailfish but hey, that's fishing! Thanks again for a great trip and I look forward to fishing with you again.
Sincerely,

Dear Captain Mike,
I would like to take a moment to thank you and Malcolm for the great fishing excursion that my extended family and I took with you.
Prior to making my reservation with you, I had surfed around the Internet for recommendations as the "best" choice for fishing charters out of Paradise Island. Several people with whom I conversed, highly recommended you. Based on the experience that we had, I would have to agree with the recommendations that we received. Our family group ranged in age from 10 - 50 and regardless of the age, we all came home satisfied and happy. I am pleased to say that I too have now joined the group of those recommending Chubasco for the best fishing experience in the Bahamas!
We look forward to seeing you again in 2003.
Regards,

Dear Captain Mike,
Just a short note to let you know how much we appreciated the special effort you made to bring our fish over to the Montague Gardens this past Saturday evening. The restaurant treated us like royalty. The fish was delicious, all 11 people left fat and happy.
We had a great 1/2 day trip with Capt. John and I only wish I was there now! Thanks again and good fishin!
